Why does a Google item appear in the wrong category?

Sometimes, a Google item appears in the wrong category in TripCreator—for example, a restaurant showing up under attractions.

2. Why This Happens

Some items naturally fit into multiple categories. For instance:

  • A restaurant could also be considered an attraction.

  • A hotel might also be a spa center.

Google categorizes items and TripCreator pulls them already pre-categorized. This can sometimes result in items appearing under a category that doesn’t match your expectations.


3. Step-by-Step Solution

Option 1: Select a Different Suggested Result

  • Choose an alternative search result that belongs to your preferred category.

  • Applying a category filter can help narrow down your search and make selection easier.

Option 2: Adjust the Category After Saving the Item

    • Save the item to your inventory as is.

    • Use the MOVE functionality to assign it to the correct category.
