Learn how to set up and use unit types, and how the system calculates pricing based on them.
Unit types are labels used to define how a product or service is measured and priced in your system. Each unit type describes the pricing basis (like per person, per night, or per vehicle) and is linked to a core type that standardizes how it’s processed in the system (like Pax, Night, or Day).
For example:
-
Per night is linked to the core type Night
-
Per person is linked to Pax
-
Vehicle per day is linked to Day
This setup helps the system consistently manage and calculate pricing across different services.
How to Configure Your Custom Unit Types
-
Go to the Products section.
-
Click the Configure tab.
-
Select the Unit Types tab.
-
Here, you can:
-
Review system unit types
-
Manage your custom unit types
-
Create new ones by clicking + Add a new unit type
-
When creating a new unit type, you’ll need to map it to one of the system’s core types.
To edit or delete a custom unit type, hover over it in the list — the options will appear.
How to Apply Presaved Unit Types
All saved unit types will appear in any product or experience that uses them.
When adding prices to your products:
-
Go to Product settings > Pricing
-
Select the pricing option from the available unit types
In the Pro plan, you can also apply unit types directly in the pricing table’s unit section, allowing you to set them individually for each product.
How the System Calculates Prices
The system calculates selling prices based on the selected unit type:
-
Per person:
x number of travelers, each with y number of units. -
Per unit:
x number of travelers sharing y number of units. -
Per day:
The number of started days in the itinerary.-
Under 24 hours = 1 day
-
25 hours = 2 days, etc.
The number of days is controlled by the product duration (adjustable via the product settings, not in the pricing table).
-
-
Per hour:
Based on the duration (hours) of the item. Like “per day,” this is set in the product settings, not the pricing table. -
Per night:
Based on the number of nights in the product’s duration, adjusted in the product settings.
Note:
You can bypass system calculations by manually entering a selling price in the Price column in the itinerary’s pricing table.
Good to Know
Unit types are not automatically translated by TripCreator.
If you need them in multiple languages for client-facing itineraries, save them manually in your preferred languages.
